AFCAT
FLYING BRANCH
  • AFCAT is for both Men and Women.
  • All candidates who opt for flying branch through AFCAT have to undergo Computerised Pilot Selection System (CPSS) during their Service Selection Board Interview.
  • In AFCAT CPSS test can be undertaken only once in a lifetime.
  • A candidate who is rejected in CPSS cannot apply for Flying Branch of Airforce, Army, Navy and Coast Guard.
  • Short Service Commission through AFCAT in Flying Branch is for 14 years.
  • The qualifying age for AFCAT is 20-24 years.
  • The qualifying age for candidates holding a valid and current Commercial Pilot License through AFCAT is 20- 26 years.
  • Graduation in any discipline with minimum 60% marks and candidate must have Maths and Physics as subjects in 10+2 or
  • BE/B.Tech with minimum 60% marks.
GROUND DUTY BRANCHES
1.ADMINISTRATION BRANCH
  • The qualifying age for AFCAT is 20-26 years.
  • Graduation (minimum three year course) in any discipline with minimum 60% marks.
2.ACCOUNTS BRANCH
  • The qualifying age for AFCAT is 20-26 years.
  • Graduation in B.Com (minimum three year course) with minimum 60% marks.
3.LOGISTICS BRANCH
  • The qualifying age for AFCAT is 20-26 years.
  • Graduation (minimum three year course) in any discipline with minimum 60% marks.
4.EDUCATION BRANCH
  • The qualifying age for AFCAT is 20-26 years
  • MA/MSc degree in English / Physics / Mathematics / Chemistry / Statistics / International Relations / International Studies / Defence Studies / Psychology / Computer Science / IT / Management / MBA / MCA / Mass Communication / Journalism / Public Relations with minimum 50 % marks in aggregate in all papers put together in Post-Graduation (minimum two years programme) and 60% marks in Graduation.
5.METEOROLOGY BRANCH
  • The qualifying age for AFCAT is 20-26 years.
  • Post-Graduation Degree in any science stream / Mathematics / Statistics / Geography / Computer Applications / Environmental Science / Applied Physics / Oceanography / Agricultural Meteorology / Ecology & Environment / Geo-physics / Environmental Biology. All candidates should have secured a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in all the papers of Post- Graduation put together and should have studied Maths & Physics in Graduation with minimum of 55% marks in both the subjects.
AERONAUTICAL ENGINEERING BRANCH

To join the Aeronautical Engineering Branch of the Indian Air Force through AFCAT a candidate must have a minimum of 60% marks in each Physics and Maths in 10+2 and must possess any one of the following qualification:

  • A minimum of four year Graduation/ Integrated post-graduation qualification in Engineering/Technology or
  • Should have cleared Section A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers or
  • Should have cleared Section A and B examination of Aeronautical Society of India or
  • Graduate membership examination of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers by actual studies.

  • With a minimum of 60% marks in the following disciplines for AERONAUTICAL ENGINEERING ELECTRONICS:

  • Communication Engineering
  • Computer Engineering / Technology
  • Computer Engineering & Application
  • Electrical and Computer Engineering
  • Electrical and Electronics Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
